According to an article released by U.S. Senator Jeff Bingaman, the University of New Mexico (UNM) has been selected to receive a $444,591 grant through the U.S. Department of Education.
A high school equivalency program at UNM will benefit from the grant, which helps students involved in migrant and other seasonal farm work to obtain the equivalent of a secondary school diploma.
Students will have the opportunity to go on to work or attend an institution of higher education or other post secondary education or training.
?By helping students achieve their educational and career goals we also help create a skilled workforce for our state,? Bingaman said.
Additionally, Bingaman announced a $50,000 grant to Ramah Navajo School Board from the U.S. Department of Agriculture?s Rural Enterprise Program.
Funding will help develop plans for the Cedar Bluff Travel Center and the Cedar Bluff Restaurant and Business Complex.
